Dr Ng Fooi Chin obtained her Masters degree in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1989. Subsequently, Dr Ng furthered her Oral Maxillofacial training in the United Kingdom where she obtained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
In 1993, Dr Ng became the first and only Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to be awarded a scholarship from the British's triple Royal Colleges of England, Edinburgh and Glasgow, under the UK Overseas Doctors Training Scheme. The Royal Colleges' sponsorship enabled her to pursue advanced postgraduate training in craniomaxillofacial surgery at UK's renowned Great Ormond Street Children Hospital and the University Hospital, London.
Dr Ng pioneered the use of real time computer guided navigational surgery for implant placement in Southeast Asia. She was appointed an Honorary Consultant and Teaching Faculty for Image Guided Implantology (IGI) navigational system.
Dr Ng's key interest is in oral maxillofacial surgery and dental implantology. She often lectures on dental implantology and oral & maxillofacial surgical topics in countries like UK, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Dr Ng is the Director and the Lead of the Masters course in implant dentistry conducted by the University of Warwick and the University of Central Lancashire, UK. These postgraduate programmes train dental practitioners from Southeast Asia and Australia in dental implantology.
Dr Ng is an OMS surgeon to Ho Kee Hai & Partners and a founding member of the education foundation, the Institute for Dental Education Advancement (IDEA).
